Looking to find out any information I can on what I have here. Been in the family for years and it's taken me 30+ to finally find out some details. Year manufactured? Thanks in advance for the help!

The pictures are pretty grainy ... but it appears to be a S&W .32 Double Action. If I'm reading the serial number correctly, then it probably falls in the neighborhood of having been shipped in 1882 or 1883.

The wood grips are almost certainly replacements—perhaps homemade replacements. I've never seen grips like that on a 19th century S&W.

Thank you, Mike! That is way more information than I had before. Don't know about the grips, but knowing my Grandfather/Great Grandfather I wouldn't be surprised. They were huge gun enthusiasts! Just wish I knew where and how they obtained it. Thanks again!

I have a .38 Double action 4th generation. THat is apparently the model but as for year it was made I don't know. I can tell you thay Jack First gun parts got me that much info while helping me find parts. Serial Number is 508317. Has these markings on the rib that look like diamonds oriented in all 4 directions pointing in. CTG. NOw, as far as a name llike Nancy at Jack First said, I have no idea of the name or model name. Unless it is just .38 DA 4th Gen

I am still ;looking for parts. A Cylinder Stop for the .38 DA Top Break 4th Generation. Trigger Spring and Stirrup.
