I picked up this Model 34-1 from a friend. I'd like to know a good estimate for the value of this gun for accurately listing it on my declarations list of my Inland Marine insurance policy. It is not and will not be for sell; I'm keeping it for a lifetime.

Per S&W Customer Service, it was made between 1965-1969. All assembly numbers on the parts match. The grips match the gun. The mechanical condition is like new from all tests. The cosmetic condition is really fantastic. There is some extremely minor fading on the bluing on the left side of the hard corner of the barrel. You have to be looking for it to really notice it and it's not through the bluing to the metal underneath but is just a tiny bit lighter in color than the rest of the gun. There is also a slight turn ring on the cylinder but it's not heavily worn. All cylinder chambers are pristine, as is the bore. The function is perfect. The bottom of the left grip panel has a small compression on one of the corners that's about 1/2 the length of a grain of rice, maybe 5mm wide, and only in the finish but not to the raw wood underneath. It doesn't have the original box, but I do have the original paperwork with it. Mine is a 4" barrel and has a square butt.

Value varies w/ location but around here they're pretty desirable. It's hard w/out good pictures, I guesstimate $700+. Original box, sight tool, cleaning brush would add about $50.

Video you provided shows nice looking condition. As mentioned, location can vary on prices. I'd say you are looking at somewhere in the $600 - $700 range. Good luck!

I sold one locally a few months ago for $650. Just the gun in 95% condition.
A search of GunBroker completed auctions is generally considered a good gauge of market value.

For insurance purposes, I'd value it at $900.00: that's what a friend sold his for at the Colorado Collector's show last year.
