I have my great grandfathers model 36 snub nose 5 shot. The serial number on the bottom of the frame is 381942. A possible value would be great although there is no intention to ever sell it. Thank you for any help. This forum is a wealth of knowledge. :)

Welcome to this forum.

Your Mod 36 was produced in the c. 1963 period. It has a flat latch to release the cylinder and diamond checkered stocks with a large diamond around the screw if they are still original. The 381942 will be stamped on the back side of the right grip stock if they are.

Assuming it's perfectly functional I can only give a range not knowing the condition which is everything for value estimates: $200 to $550 in 100% condition with original box.

Enjoy, you have a classic!

Thank you! Yes the grips are still original. It is in great condition and shoots very well. No i do not have the box. Ill get pics posted later today.

It is not overly valuable, If you are pricing it for estate purposes, subtract 50% of whatever is suggested for relatives you like and double the price for relatives you don't.

Nice 36 - I hope you keep it since it was your gr-grandfather's. I CCW a Mod. 36 - great little handgun and fun to shoot at the range as well.

Tsk . . Tsk . . lonegunman762X51 . . . you sound as though you've settled estates! :-) I have as well . . several . . and there is "always one" who will cause a problem . . . what more can I say? :-)
