POA - POI issues. Sight suggestions?

My POI is just a bit lower than my POA on the stock sights. Horizontal is fine, I run a strait line down the center, but I have to aim higher than my mark and loose sight of it.
It gets better at longer ranges, in fact quite good. BUT it is a compact for CC and tightening it up at closer range is what I want.
So, question: Anyone recommend a good night sight where you have noticed an improvement in vertical POA/POI? HIVIZ, or Truglow?

What's the weapon? What caliber? The rule of thumb is that the front sight chases the group.

Without more info it's hard to analize, but as a general rule lighter bullets will strike lower, try going up a bullet weight.

25 meter zero is what I use. Closer will be different but still within the 8" circle.

i guess I shouldnt complain. It's only low around 4" at 10 meters.

It's possible the gun is off, but there are 2 possibiities you could also check.
1. Technique. People come to me frequently with "shoots low" complaints that turn out to be the shooter. One lady was getting good groups consistently over a foot low at 5 yds due to breaking down every shot. Gun was dead on for me. I had her hold the gun sighted while I pulled the trigger and it hit dead center.
2. Most .40s I've checked seemed to be sighted for 180gr; one exception was the Brn HP Practical which was on for 165gr.

My full size 40 shoots 165gr 3/4" lower then 180gr at 7 yards. Try the 180gr.

ill have to grab some 180 and give it a try. and then retry when i get new sights.

why don't you try the stock sights with 180 grain before you buy new sights? Wouldn't that make sense to test the sights?

Also...I've heard of changing the distance and seeing a difference in the point of impact.

My M&P 40c (bought wed) is a Dam tack driver. My practice ammo is either Winchester 165 grain BEB or Speer Lawman 165 Grain TMJ (Win is a bit more accurate than the Speer). My carry round is the Win SXT 165 grain. My POA/POI is almost identical. My 40c is a very accurate weapon, I dare to say possibly more accurate than my 45 midsize or my 40FS. I actually retired my G27 and 45 Mid to carry the 40c. Very happy

I plan to.. simply because right now i need to be buying gifts for others, rather than myself.
I just want to change out the standard white dot dovetail for some night sights at some point. The damn white dot came out of the front sight so I used some metal primer, then some florescent over that.
Just curious if any one has experienced a change in elevation with new sights.

I can vouch the changing the distance. I shoot much better at greater distances. I tear out the bulls, yet at closer ranges, I make my hole a bit to low.

4" low at 30 ft is still (on an 8" paper plate or fbi target) going to cause critical damage!! Empty the magazine at a threat at even 30 ft and you have rained holy hell on that individual. Personally I am working on being able to draw, shoot, reload, smoothly, quickly, and at a distance not exceeding 21 ft or so.

Just an update: Apex DCAEK and some 180 gr: problem resolved. Tack driving the bulls. Not even taking my time to do it. That kit killed the over travel, which I believe was a major factor.
I had poor results with 180 before and stuck with 165, but now.. I went ahead and ordered some 180 SD loads.
