I ordered a custom pocket holster from Bob Mika for my Shield 40 for around $30 after reading positive comments on the Forum about the product. I'm not here to shill for Bob, but I can tell you that I am very happy with my choice.

For me, front right pocket carry in the pants I normally wear at work (run of the mill dress slacks from Haggar), works great with my Shield 40 and is surprisingly comfortable, even though the Shield has been criticized as too large for pocket carry. Now, I'm new to CCW, so my experience with other forms of carry is non-existent. But carrying a 40 caliber subcompact in a pocket holster works for me and, frankly, provides what I consider a hard-to-match, formidable platform if I ever need to use it.

Here's the best part: again, I'm a newbie, but I was surprised at how well I can draw the weapon from inside the pocket, and the holster stays in the pocket when the pistol comes out. It's ingenious the way these are designed and made, with a material on the exterior of the holster that grabs the inside of the pants pocket and stays there when the pistol is drawn.

I demonstrated it several times to my wife, and after the predictable head-shaking and eye rolling, she did have to admit it was pretty cool.

Maybe all pocket holsters work this way, but gotta say, I really like mine, and for the price, it's hard to beat.

Weatherman,

I'll try to post some, and in the meantime, check out Bob's website for pics of the holsters he produces. Each is hand-sewn, and it was not necessary for me to provide the pistol to him, as he has a Shield model in his inventory already.

You'll find others on this Forum have complimented his work. Bob's a retired detective from SoCal and lives in Wisconsin now. You can order from his site, and you'll get a phone call from him within a couple of hours thanking you for the order. Delivery on mine was about three weeks.

Again, I'm not here to advertise for Bob, but in the spirit of the Forum and within its rules, I am simply describing a product I found that works well, and want to share it with fellow Shield owners.

Bob Mika not only makes a nice pocket holster, but he is a very friendly and personable man.
