Drove to the LGS this morning to pick up a new rifle I'd ordered.
Parked directly in front of the door is a Prius emblazoned with bumper stickers proclaiming their love of a prominent anti 2A left-wing politician whose name I dare not mention for fear of instant penalty. You can probably figure out the name!
One old guy at the counter. Must be the one.
Owner greets me that my rifle is in, but that the background check system is really slow at the moment.
Figured I'd just fill out the 4473 and stop back later.
Owner entered mine and it was approved in about 30 seconds.
Shortly thereafter, Prius owner's comes back....denied!
He stormed out, muttering, and $10 poorer for the experience.
Made my day, too!

I once went to the range with a friend from Santa Fe. In her Prius. With the hope-y kinda stickers on the back. It took me a while to understand why I was getting all the glares from the shooters there. :)

Took me back to when I had a 12" mohawk in Indiana corn country in the early Eighties. :)

If he was all that anti, makes you wonder why he was even trying to buy one in the first place.

Perhaps testing the system but either way, here is the flaw in the process. IF he was a prohibited person trying to buy a gun for any reason the matter should be referred to law enforcement for investigation and prosecution. Agreed, lots not known but still, there is already a set of laws prohibiting some people from buying a gun and if that one fit that description he should learn how the existing laws work regardless of his car choice or bumper stickers.

Don't judge too quickly. Maybe he had to borrow his kid's car because his was in the shop. I hate it when people make all sorts of assumptions about me just from a 2 second glance at me and my truck.

By golly, that's profiling! :D

Or you could invest in one of those magnetic stickers to put on the trunk lid saying something like THIS IS MY HIPPY KID'S CAR or better yet, one of those NRA styled coexist designs.:D

He didn't have to, necessarily, be antigun.

Back in 04, I was down at the range when a guy came in to rent a gun and go shoot. He was wearing one of them "I Voted Today" stickers.

Guy behind the counter said something about, "helping put Bush in office again", and this guy said NO, that he had voted for Kerry.

Counter guy is shocked. "Kerry? He wants to take our guns away!"

Customer says, "No he don't. That's just Republican propaganda".

Customer was not "anti-gun". He was just stupid.

Maybe the gun in the OP was the same. Stupid.

Ten Dollars for a background check?

Oregon Law. State Police do the backgrounds.
Governor supposedly ordered that a trooper be dispatched for every denial. They don't appear to do that with any consistency.
Even worse, is they are now requesting an increase to $30 a pop.

Maybe he was trying to emulate what mark? kelly had tried at the gun shop in Arizona?

But a great story ending to my liking too. :)

You go ahead & rock that "Cowboy butts drive me nuts" bumper sticker. No judging here. You'd be surprised how many of us gun guys figure "live & let live." ;)
