Poison Ivy

I can get it if not careful and do remember my first meeting with that plant.

As kids, we had a small play ground down the hill, about four blocks away
and I got tired of playing and wandered to the bottom of the lot a saw a pretty red & green bush, that was calling out to me, to come play.

I ended up pealing the outside skin/bark off of the stems and noticed a creamy white fluid, which had a bitter taste.

Long story short...........
I was a sick kid for three days with fat arms and face.
Just lucky that it did not get into my eyes, which would have been really bad.

I don't know which is worse...........
poison oak or skunk spray ?

My daughter had to take Ian to the hospital this morning because his face had swollen more overnight and he couldn't open his eyes. This is him a while ago. I would say that he's definitely allergic.

I have a ton of allergies, but somehow, poison ivy does nothing to me. There was ivy growing on both ends of my house and I would go out a couple of times a year and tear it off and thought nothing about it being PI. A friend bought my house to flip, and he calls me up and says, "Man, I tore that ivy off the walls and have horrible PI!". I was shocked to learn it was PI, but even more shocked to learn that I had been handling it for years with no effect. Plain old grass rubbed on my skin makes a big welt, and pine needles about make me go to the ER. Any kind of real Christmas tree made me feel like I had about the worst cold ever.
