I have always bought cheap sunglasses and always lost them. Three years ago I bought a pair of Oakleys and still have them. Even got a second pair a year ago. I was thinking about getting a third pair since my oldest ones are running out of places to get scratched and Oakley doesn't offer replacement lenses for them.

My last two pair were polarized but I've been thinking about trying a non-polarized pair out since I don't fish or anything. Should I stick with the polarized shades? I drive a lot for work and have always been told by my buddies that the polarized ones make all the difference in the world. I have always had polarized sunglasses so I don't have anything to compare them to. Anyone have experience with both and which did you like?

Polarized sunglasses make it difficult, sometimes impossible, to see ice or liquids (oil, antifreeze, water) on the road. I ride motorcycles. Not compatible, potentially fatal.

I don't like polarized lenses for driving. They seem to cause a rainbow effect (for me, anyway) with automotive glass. I did like using them for fishing back in the day.

I like the Polarized for fishing, since it cuts the glare off the top of the water, and you can see deep down into the water. If I'm not fishing, I just use regular sunglasses.

I agree, normal sunglasses for most applications, the exception is water related activities.

I drive a lot and wear Polarized lenses most of the time.
In dull overcast conditions I switch to light amber conventional lenses.

Polarized lenses block scattered light reflections, darken and increase contrast in blue skies in bright light and do a wonderful job of eliminating reflections of vehicle dash onto the windshield.

I've had several vehicles with long sloped windshields that were nearly impossible to drive on a sunny day without Polarized sunglasses due to dash reflections onto the windshield.

Same here, I never wear polorized when I'm riding bikes or motorcycles.

I am a big believer in quality sunglasses, though. I wore SunClouds for years for driving but I'm on my last pair now and they went out of business. Currently I'm a big fan of Serengeti's and have been able to get them at SAM's at about 30% off list price.

I have polorized lenses in my prescription sunglasses and they are amazing.

I wear them everyday. They are the only way for fishing or sunny days in the snow.

I have used them for several years and I ride a motorcycle. They haven't bothered me yet. Just today I order a new pair of prescription sun glasses. I tried the brown ones but they weren't dark enough. I am going to try the gray colored ones. I am hoping they will work for me.

Another vote or polarized! I like them for driving, golf, fishing, and boating.

I tried Kaenon but they aren't as good as Maui Jims. Ray Ban prescription aren't bad but they aren't Maui Jims
