Police trade in 4006TSW

9mm SIMMS barrel not same as 5906 or 5906TSW barrel - see attached picture of a 9mm SIMMS barrel in a 4046. I would not try to convert a 40SW to regular 9mm ammo.
I have 5906TSW barrels in my brinks 4046TSW and CHP4006TSW. I hit 860 rounds today with the CHP 9mm conversion. It has not malfunctioned once.

Confused - thought you had previously posted that you had tried a 5906TSW barrel in one of the VJH blue grip 4006TSW and it would not cycle 9mm. As far as I can tell the extractor is set to run fine with 40SW and therefore should be same as CHP and Brinks 40SW. I would expect both 4006TSWs and 4046TSWs should be same with respect to cycling.

I will clarify. I have used the 5906TSW barrel in the VJH 4006TSW . It would not cycle more than two rounds of 9mm without a failure to extract. It runs perfectly with 40sw
I also have used the same 5906TSW barrel in a Brinks 4046TSW and CHP4006TSW with zero issues. Using a small tool and pushing down on the area where the extractor spring is. It has noticably weaker tension than the other two guns mentioned.

As I understand the extractor is fit to each pistol - its an armorer or gunsmith job, not a direct swap replacement - and there are blue springs and red springs for the 4006 - dont know the criteria for chosing. Also the 5906TSW barrel may require fitting to a new pistol - some of the new ones Midway had a while back were said to be rough.
Curious as to what you are using for mags - assuming 5906 mags?
If it works for you great for you - but I already have a 5906TSW and a 5946TSW so my 4006TSW will remain 40SW.
Best, Ed

For a while Summit was listing a dozen or so at a time on Gunbroker - first couple of batches were no reserve and sold from about $260-360. Some with rails, some without. First several batches were without case and some were pretty beat up.

Then they got smart and set a Reserve, first $339.99, then lowered to $319.99. More recent ones mostly are with case and without rail (not drilled for rail).

They sold over 150 pistols on GB over a couple of months. Last group I think they had saturated the market as they only sold 4 or so out of 12 or more listed. So now they seem to be listing 1 at a time to get the price up.

But they still have for sale on their website at $329.99. I would try to contact them via their website email or phone and try to get a few pictures and pick one and negotiate.

I guess they found the right ticket the single went $480 tonight - highest they got on first 150 or so sold in batches was $360.
P.S. They still have them listed on the Summitgunbroker site for $329.99.

Yeah, I thought my bid under $400 was high, but wow. I bet Summit will be happy with that one. I have an email into them but am always hesitant to buy something sight unseen. We'll see.

Get them to select one and text you a few pictures - or maybe a pick a couple and send pictures of both and let you pick. They may still have ones with rail, so you might ask what they still have available. I would go no rail.

If I recall correctly, Christina is the customer service rep who will probably answer your email. CORRECTION it appears they are only open Mondays and Thursdays 9am-3pm Eastern Time - but you can always call and leave a message in addition to email. But you probably want to get to someone who has access to the pistols - maybe get them to call you back.

Grips are replaceable for $20 from Midway, and figure you will need a couple of good mags - not the ones they send. check eBay or GB for 4006 mags.

But watch for dings on muzzle end - several of the early ones looked like they had been dropped on their nose on a hard surface more than once.

Thank you for your kindness, Ed, we all appreciate it. I'll see what they can or will do for me. That one looked great but went too high $ for me. If I can work something out, I'll let you know.

I just got a shipping notification from Summit today on one of these.

I will say I was a bit disappointed with Summit's customer service - I sent an email, called several times (within their window) and texted. The only word I got back was a text saying that they had more than one available. I really would have liked to hear a bit regarding the condition and maybe gotten some photos like I had requested.

But, alas, I figure this has to be about the last batch of 4006's that we will see, and I know I've missed out on some surplus guns that I later couldn't touch for a decent price.

I'll happily report back with how it compares to my "VJB" 4006 and ex-Brinks 4046. At the end of the day, these 3rd Gens are still head and shoulders above anything new you can buy at that price point.

Now if I only I had picked up a CHP 4006 back when I could..

I just picked it up late last night and first impressions are good. First of all, it's cool to see a TSW without a rail or the rail holes and the CHP style bobbed hammer and decocker is unique. I was also happy to see it was shipped in the factory hard blue case with the correct serial number although the plastic latches were broken.

The frame is in very nice shape, but the slide looks more dinged up than my others (though nothing really horrible). The grip is in nice shape other than the peeling blue paint. Mechanically it looks and functions perfectly and doesn't seem as dirty as my other 4006TSW or 4046TSW were when I got them. The recoil spring feels lighter than the new ones I just placed in my other guns and the DA trigger pull is the best of the three.

Glancing at the barrel, it's definitely been shot but it's in nice shape overall and this one seems to have more fine particles of brass on the inside that need to be cleaned out. Slide fitment is comparable to the Brinks 4046TSW, but my other 4006TSW is the best slide fitment I've ever seen on a production gun.

In the coming days I'll strip it down and hopefully get it to the range soon. Overall I'm happy with it and for $329 I think the price was fair. All these 3rd Gens clean up super nicely so I'll be excited to see it once I put a bit of time into it and perhaps I'll break out my bead blasting equipment and try refinishing one of them.
