Okay, so I've read some past posts, but can't seem to find them again. How about some info and opinions on what to use and how to do it? Normal Wally World products preferred, but I can sometimes get to real civilization or order off the web.

If your looking to polish it to a mirror like finish what I use is Mothers Polish or Mothers Billet Polish that can be found at any auto parts store and even Wally World in the auto section. I use a cotton cloth and wipe it off with a microfiber towel, it doesn't happen in minutes so be patient the more times you polish it the shine improves, usually a rainy day project, use sparingly a little goes a long way.

I prefer Flitz over Mothers. I have lot's of alumimum (sp)on my Sportster that I polish to shine her up, so I've had alot of practice. The Flitz does a much better job with less elbow grease IMO. Using a soft cotton cloth, apply a small amount of polish to the cloth and using a circular motion polish a small section and thoroughly clean her off with a white quality cloth and go to another section. Buy some of the firmer Q-Tips for the tighter spots. Take your time and try to do the same amount of polishing on each section. Last step for me was polishing it one last time going with the grain. When I finished mine I gave it a good coat of Maguires paste wax which does a great job of removing the residual polish and keeps oxidation down. At the end you will be pleased if you like a shiny revolver.

Thanks BuzzardBilly! As they say "chrome don't get ya home". I like chrome don't get me wrong , but a little elbow grease will get ya real nice shine when it comes time for me to polish "Jake" up. Have a 3'" 657 lined up. Just saving as it's getting close to Christmas and the wife only has so much tolerance. The revolver pictured is a 66-2 3". Have a 3" 629 that I haven't got around to polishing. Do you have a 3" 657 gathering dust by chance?

Here's my trusty 1993 steed "Jake". 133,000+ miles and still running real strong thanks to some seious engine work! Used to do 3rd gear wheelies on it in my younger/drinking days but now take it easy since my daughter gave me a lil Granddaughter who is now 5. Her name is "Harley" and this will be her motorcycle when she graduates from college.

Based on reading some prior posts when I had a similar question, someone suggested Flitz, an old sock, and some time in front of the TV. I am very impressed with the Flitz. I cut a corner off of a yellow microfiber towel to apply and rub with, and I used the rest to wipe off. It turned out so well, I did the 686 next. No pics, sorry. I really will join the 90's someday and learn how to do that.
