I am thinking of polishing my barrel and my slide on my SW9VE. What is the best way and what materials to use?

Thanks, SHART1971

When I did my barrel I went 400,600,800,1000 and then hit it with some polish using a dremel.

I used emory boards, 400, 800, 1500, then the dremel black stick then the white stick. Just becareful not to get the metal hot with the dremel or you will blue the metal.

Thanks for the great advice. It looks like i need to invest in a dremel.

The chamber of one of my pistols was matte stainless, the barrel bright stainless. I did it by hand- Mothers polish and 0000 steel wool. It takes some work, but I found it kind of enjoyable. I didn't have to worry much about overdoing it- and while I sat and watched TV I would work on it an hour or so. While at it I lightly polished the feed ramp (on 3 pistols) and the stainless barel. I even polished the rest of my pisstols just for appearance- no steel wool, just polish and rubbing. Personal choice here- I felt good knowing i did it all by hand. No offense by any means to using a dremel- if I had one I may have used it myself.

What else are you going to work on?

I found a knock-off at CostCo for a fraction (1/3) the price
Also, places like Harbor Freight have knock-off's.

When I went to do a fluff and buff, I read way too much into the process. Think simple. Maybe some Flitz and elbow grease is all you need.
