Political Spam

As we all know, Tuesday was an election day. Starting Sunday I started getting Spam calls on my cell phone the get out and vote for a candidate. Two even offered me a ride to the polls if I needed.

The goofey thing was, all 14 calls were from different numbers in 10 different area codes, and not one was in my state! I know where Boston, St. Louis, and Phoenix are! I don't think any call I got was within two states of OHIO!

So, one of two things happened. First would be, my name got on a Pro Life list. that then became a political list. Or Second, someone as a prank or revenge signed me up for said lists.

I only have two of the S&W forum member's phone numbers and vice versa, so it didn't come from here. I don't think my fellow church members would do that. Or even the one politician I know. I could see some of my former employees, but that's been 11 years or more.

We used to say, "I want to meet that guy in a dark alley some night!" I guess the appropriate threat now would be, "I want to dial his number at 0230 some night!"

If I don't recognize the caller ID/phone number, the phone doesn't get answered! My simplest way to avoid spam calls.

Couple of years ago I received some texts wanting me to support this candidate. Not just vote for her, but be a campaign worker.


The first two I just ignored, but the third one came on a day when I was upset, and I responded.


I wanted to know just how flipping stupid those people were. "You have to have my phone number to text me, so you should know where I am at. What makes you think that anyone in Florida gives a rat's *** about politics in Idaho? Leave me alone!"


The next day I got a text back. They apologized and said they were removing my name from the list, and I never heard from them again.

I hate political spam. I also hate exit polls as I leave the polling place.

I always tell them, NOYB. because it is.

I always get emails wanting me to support some politician running for for something on the other side of the country. That's what delete buttons are for.
