like others the 66 is easier to care for, if you wanted you could polish the 66 to look darn close to nickel.....maybe the best of both?

but I just LOVE a nickle 19 snub(I didnt think I would untill I got one) had other nickel Smiths but the 19 2.5" just did it for me

yep...

If it ain't blue, it's nickle. Stainless looks like a kitchen implement.

Well, actually - Nope.

Here's one that's 61 years old and it's held up as good as any blue gun IMHO.

It has a big ol' scrach down the backstrap and the nickel is gone off the end of the barrel --- "least durable choice availabile"!?!

Some old copper didn't think so, it has been carried alot.
I liked this old pre Mod 10 so much I bought a period corret box for it to rest in while I own it.

Gotta show some loyalty. I just purchased a 66 no dash over the weekend. So, it's stainless for me. I own both stainless and blue guns and the blues are more attractive. But, the stainless guns clean up MUCH more easily and for me, that's a plus.

I vote for the Nickle. Nickel just has a warm look to it, it's flashy without being abnoxcious.

I said nickel. The last two revolvers I have bought have been in nickel. A mod 15-3 in a snub nose, and a Mod 24 Classic in nickel. The 15 was a trade deal, the 24 was a buy, and man I am glad I gotem. The finishes are fantastic. The mod 24 being new I expected no less, but the older 15 is still flawless. I am thankful it was taken care of. I have other nickel revolvers, and always get them when I can. Just my .05.

get the 66, a little time with some mothers and it's going to look like nickel.. get tired of the nickel look, a few minutes with a scotch bright pad and back to stainless.. no worrys about the nickel flaking, small scratches..buff them right out..

If you want it for acarry gun get stainless. Nickel, even the good job S&W does, will wear anf lose it's shine. Lined holster will help but it will happen over time.

I voted nickel. I really like that shine. If you're going to run it through the ringer buy a 66. I own and shoot em all equally and there a blast whatever finish! To each his own.

I voted nickel as well. I'm currently looking at a nickel model 19-4 with a four inch barrel for $400(should I or should I not buy?) I've given up on obtaining a nickeled model 19-2 2 inch barrel that another shop wants $700 for. Just a bit too much for me at this time.

I have found the stainless 66 to be softer and go out of time faster than carbon blue or nickle. I no longer own any 66,s . I have had two wear out and go out of time. Softer and more gulling metal. Not as smooth as carbon or long lasting. My carry is a M-19 rb 2.5" nickle and my house gun a M19 blue 4"- dash 3.
