Go on any website that caters to gun owners and do a search for speed loaders. Chances are that Uplula will pop up as your first option. Maybe you bought something else some years ago. If it works for you there's no reason to buy anything else because of others opinions. Doesn't make yours the best or second best.

So what's your preference or what did you end up buying?

I won't nit-pick your use of the word "speed loader" as it is obvious that we all know what you are talking about.

The Uplula has been my choice since I started using one.

There is nothing to prove in loading a magazine and they are much quicker and more efficient than using your hands alone.

Talking of magazine loaders, I have an Uplula universal loader and two Speedbeez loaders, one for my Sig P365 and another for my recently acquired P320. I am new to shooting semiautos, and learned only recently about these mag loaders.

What I found was that at the range when I place the mag on a table, counter or barrel, put the Uplula on top of it, and load ammo, it aggravates the arthritis in my hands. I think this is because I am pretty tall, and the position of the mag on a low surface places my hands at an uncomfortable angle.

The Speedbeez loader works differently: The mag locks into the loader — you need a loader for each specific gun — and there is a scissor-like action one uses to insert the ammo. You don't need to rest the mag on anything, so you can hold it wherever it feels comfortable to you.

I think the Uplula is probably faster if you have a place to rest it and the magazine on. But I find the Speedbeez loader more comfortable.

As for revolver speedloaders, I like HKS. I tried some Safariland speedloaders, but could not make them work properly and returned them.

When I got on the job, HKS speed loaders were state of the art. Heresy to the drop box dinosaurs. The only speed loaders I’ve ever owned.

When I started in law enforcement in the mid '70s, a number of officers used loops only. I bought drop boxes.

When I went through the po-leese academy in 1979, we were allowed to use loops or drop boxes, but not speedloaders. No semi auto pistols either.

So, I guess based upon the poll options, we're not talking about actual revolver speed loaders, but we're talking about magazine loaders for those who can't load a magazine without assistance or actually just use their thumbs? Which really doesn't speed things up if you can use you thumbs . . .
