favorite trucks

Loved my old 1971 Chevrolet 3/4 ton work truck. It had the heavy duty 4 speed manual transmission. Still my favorite, almost "indestructable" truck.
Current pickup is a 1993 Chevy Silverado 3/4 ton, 350 small block. Replaced the OEM windshield wiper motor several years ago.....otherwise trouble free. Gas mileage around town at 16mpg is horrible, but it runs like a top.

I've had Ford, Chev, and Toyota. The Toy was probably the most dependable but it like to have beaten me to death on the road. The Chev interiors were not great, to say the least. My brother had a couple Nissan/Datsuns and he loved them but I've never owned one so they don't count. I have owned four Fords, 5 if you count the Excursion, 7 if you count the motor home and custom van. Guess you know where my vote went!:D

I have had several F-150s, liked the 300-inch six the best. But I like my Ranger better than any of them. It's a '94, made right here in St. Paul, still has the window decal from the Ford plant.

I've had 2 Toyotas and 4 fords. The toys were great for jeeping, hunting and fishing. The fords were great work trucks.

In a 1/2 ton I'd lean towards Ford.
Still, I've been trying to wear out my D21 Nissan for 23yrs. No luck so far.

I love ford diesels and chevy gassers....

however I will no longer purchase vehicles from bail out babies like GM or Chrysler so Ford and Toyota it is.

Oh boy...here we go again!

I like different aspects about Ford/Chevy/Dodge, but cast my vote with my wallet...F-150.

I have always been a Chevrolet guy. I had an 83 Ford F-150. it wasn't bad but I liked the Chevrolets better.

In 2012 I went looking for a new pickup. The Ford had more of what I was looking for so I bought it. Now after a couple of years, I am rethinking my Chevy guy statement. I think I might be converted to Ford.

Just dont tell anyone.

Well since 1972 I have had about 16 Chevy 4x4 Pickups (3 of that number were 3/4 tonners.) All were purchased new and used as a daily driver. My last two Chevys were trouble. One had the engine knock and was 2 years old and I traded it for my 05 as I was retiring going to keep it for a looooooooooong time, instead of my usual 1-3 years. The 05 was ok till it got off of warranty and then if it could go wrong it did.

Finely in disgust I went looking for another 4x4 truck, I looked at Nissan, Dodge, Ford and Toyota, (did not even consider getting another Chevy at that point). Old prejudices came up quick and no Nissan or Fords made it past the first stage.

My Son has had a couple Tundra’s and he said Dad drive mine for a week and check it out. It was a 4x4 with 390HP V8. I really liked that truck it had serious gonads and blew the doors off a Dodge(Ram) Hemi very easily. So I went to the Toyota dealer and beat up the salesman and got a very decent deal trading in my Chevy towards the 10 Tundra. Having bought over 50 cars and trucks in my lifetime I can just about make a salesman cry and sweat like he is in the Sahara.

Had them hang a Fisher Plow on it and let me say quite clearly that Toyota out plowed my last 2 Chevys by a big margin.(All being ex cab short box) It gets better mileage than my Chevys did and has a lot more power.

So in my normal long winded way let me say FOR NOW my favorite is my 10 Tundra 4x4.:)

Well only one brand has been number 1 selling truck in USA for 37 yrs straight.

It ain't a bow tie or a jap truck or a dodge

FORD. There can be only 1.

Gotta be a bit more specific.

1956 Ford F-100 big window. (Sure wish I'd taken some good pics of that truck before I sold it.)

My 06 GMC 1/2 ton 4x4 has been nothing but reliable, but with only 90,000 miles, time will tell. My 1995 Ford Ranger was 100% problem free until I blew the motor at 190,000 miles - My fault as I badly over heated it while towing a boat when I knew the belt was slipping.

Had a Nissan 2wd P/U with the 4 cyl. NAPS-Z motor (2 spark plugs per cyl.) Towed a boat with it, revving the motor like a motorcycle, couldn't kill it. Eventually sold it, running good, with about 250,000 miles on it.

Worst ever was a brand new 4wd 1982 Dodge Ramcharger. Seemed like anything that could go wrong did. Dumped it with 35,000 miles on it.

A buddy has a fairly new Toyota Tundra, and I am impressed with it. Probably my next truck.

"Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public." Mencken.

Seriously I beat the hay out my '84 with the 300 in-line. I loved that truck for years.

That being said I'm looking for a couple year old Tacoma. Seems to suit me better than the behemoths the Big 3 are producing these days.
