Poor man's Python....

Congrats! You got a great buy on that one. I don't consider anything like that stealing, as long as the buyer and seller are both happy with the price. In reality, that gun should only be worth about $900. It is the internet hype and people's mindless nature that has caused the crazy prices on Colts.

I would have bought it to flip as I have no need for a 6" 38spl. If you wanted, I imagine you could get about $1500-$1700 for it depending on if it really is LNIB and you have all the packaging that is serialized. The market is starting to finally get some sense in it now, and all but the very exotic Colts are starting to come back down. Pythons are still up there for the most part. As long as you can convince someone it is 'NIB', somebody will shell out a semesters worth of tuition for it because some are just that brainwashed.

Supply vs. Demand, my friend!

Congrats on a fantastic deal. Very Nice!! I had a couple of 4"ers and a couple of 2 1/2"ers but never a 6"er...... Should shoot very well. I don't know that I would call it a poor man's Python, rather, the ultimate in manufacturing art, of the "Police Positive" line of fabulous Colt revolvers!

Congrats on the great buy! Sometimes you are in the right place at the right time. A few years back I was in a local sporting goods store brousing at the gun counter. One of the employees brought out a shotgun I had been looking everywhere for, but could not find, even on the net. It was the only one they received. I asked how much and the price was way below what they were selling for if you could fine one. I immediately said SOLD! Nowhere near the bargain you bought, but it does happen from time to time. :D

He should take his new Bushmaster and smack his wife over the head with it or making him sell a gun in the first place! Sheeesh...
My Colts (and Smiths) values have increased WAY more than my stupid 401K, and I can have fun shooting them too.

OUTSTANDING! Right place at the right time, cash in hand. I should be so lucky. At that price, I would enjoy shooting the snot out if it!!!

Poor man's python

I guess am neither poor nor rich, but just plain patient and persevering! My wheel guns were acquired after long hours of researches, watching, walking all aisle of gun shows, and bidding to just lose at times and winning at the right moment. My Colt 22 Diamondback, Python and S&W K38, all 6", are 99% condition with the Python having the best blueing of all. I had fun shooting them all until couple of years ago when I decided to concentrate more on my shooting sport discipline, the Olympic small bore rifle.

I was shooting a Python in 357 a few weeks ago which belongs to a friend. He had it at the range and offered me a turn with it and gave me 5 rounds. I put 3 in the center with it at 25yards which was better then he can shoot it. I don't think he will offer me that gun again from the disappointed look on his face. His is in about 95-98% condition. It was really nice to shoot I will say.
