ported barrels

Was looking at Different barrels for my 40ve and came accross this anybody know about them. I couldnt find any information off the companyies web site. Or if there are any other alternatives I saw storm lake makes some for the M&P at they look relatively close in there configuration.

EFK stopped making the aftermarket barrels for the Sigma. I would ask them about it before buying a leftover one, because there were rumors of a high return rate. If EFK says they will stand behind it...........
Another consideration is do the ports match your slide, or does the slide require work?
By the way, M&P barrels don't fit a Sigma.

I'd sure be interested in firing it because for a millisecond, the barrel is covered by the slide. Unless the new barrel extends beyond the slide but I think that would look kinda strange. I have a Taurus M44 (44 mag w/ 7 1/2inch barrel) thats ported and on a gun that size, you can tell the difference. Muzzle flip is definately reduced allowing you to get back on target faster.

I have and shoot them on my Glocks.
Great for reducing muzzle flip. The downfall is that the front site gets dirty real quick and if shooting at night the muzzle flash out the top will reduce your night vision on the followup shot.

How about blow back?

I don't have a gun with a ported barrel but my .357 with a full magnum load will dust me with powder residue.

I can just imagine this to be a bigger problem with a ported barrel.
Granted it is a small compromise for a target pistol, but just a concern.

My dad has a glock 23C, as well as the full frame w/ a 5" barrel .40(Forget which model that is right now)
They are both "compensated" aka ported.

Just as others have said, the front side get's dirty but i really do like it.
My next .40 will need to have a ported barrel before i buy it... despite the site getting dirty.
