I picked up this model of 1950 .45ACP a few years ago and have always wondered if its a legitimate 26-2. I've attached pictures showing the serial number, model marking, and the "5" on the left side of grip frame that (as Doc44 says) means it is a .45 frame. I do not believe it could have been a model 1955 (25-2) with heavy barrel, due to the top front of frame has the scallops for a lightweight barrel (no scallops when a heavy barrel is used; like a 1955, or .44 mag barrel for instance). The cylinder and extractor star have the same serial # as the gun (S239743). Does not look re-blued, as the S&W emblem on the side plate is still raised (you can feel it with fingernail).
