possibly my favorite handgun

Rubiranch sir I like your taste. For reaching out and touching something with a revolver it is hard to top a 6 inch barrel and the patridge front sight. I especially enjoy firing magnum rounds with a full lug barrel as I find that small amount of additional weight at the muzzle makes for a really smooth shooting gun. I don't see many 686s with the patridge. Thanks for sharing.

I really enjoy shooting this one. The box indicates that it was a special order.

Anything that I can even come close to what I'm aiming at is a darn nice gun. :D

I think there's less kick than there is with my 6.5" M-27.

My 686 is also an early 80's version. I don't thumb back the hammer much, because that's too easy ! Double action is a bit more challenging, and nothing like getting into a rhythm shooting DA.

Both really nice looking pistols. I think next time at the range I'll be doing the SA for a change. :)

I like my K38,15, 10, 19, M&P, Chiefs Special, and various J frames; but this indeed, my favorite revolver; 686-4.

Nice. I'm really hoping that I like the 4" 686 that I'm going to be looking at soon.

I have 2 686-3s. One is a 4 inch, the other is a 2 1/2 inch. Both great shooters. I bought the 4 inch so I could save wear and tear on my 27-2.

This is how I got it. The black on the cylinder took a lot of scrubbing with Hoppe's 9 and brass wool. The same around the hammer and the end of the barrel. I still haven't got around the forcing cone as clean as I'd like it either but I'll spend some more time on it soon.

I'm quite sure mine has had 1000s of rounds go thru it.

I've only put 99 thru it myself. One was a dud or it would have been an even 100. :D

Could not agree more! I have but two hands, yet I own nearly a dozen 45ACP revolvers!

Kevin

My brother shot .357s for years then switched to .44s and .45s.

He had several .45 ACP revolvers.

It's a "Service Match" gun which is a bit like your PPC Match. 90 round match with targets set out at 50, 25, 10, and 7 yards.

Those grips are the Hogue Big Butt grips.

That sounds like a lot of fun. Thanks

The guns are beautiful and that holster!!!! That looks like a nice bit of work there!

I'm more of an k frame and n frame guy with s&w second. In a ruger Redhawk Guy first. The 5.5" Redhawk in 357 is a beast.

For me favorite handgun would be these two. I like to have both a semi and a revolver as a favorite in each action.

S&W model 25.

H&K USP in .45 ACP.

I put the HK "Match Trigger" kit in my USP 45 and it was totally worth the money!: slightly lighter trigger pull and better reset. It made the double action pull MUCH better!

I only have one semi-auto, my M&P .45. I enjoy shooting it and its generally the gun I carry while out riding my ATV. So I guess this is my favorite semi-auto.

Well I do have another 1911 Colt but its never be fired and I have no plans to fire it so I guess the Colt can't be a favorite. LOL

The 686 is one if not the best revolvers made. I fit this one with an unfluted cylinder.
