I didn't know that this year they are going to have a real possum, otherwise I'd a went.
They've had the possum drop in Brasstown (outside Hayesville NC) for several years, but PETA didn't like it and sued, and so they stopped it, citing technicalities in the NC game laws.
Seems the great men at the NC department of wildlife rewrote the law so capturing an possum for a "ethnic or cultural event" wherein the animal isn't harmed, is just hunky-dory!
I'm happy to support anything that aggravates criminals, charlatans and anti-Americans masquerading as animal lovers.
After all, isn't a possum in a cage more interesting than anything in BloomBORGville?
Throw in some bluegrass, and it's even better!
