I didn't know that this year they are going to have a real possum, otherwise I'd a went. :D

They've had the possum drop in Brasstown (outside Hayesville NC) for several years, but PETA didn't like it and sued, and so they stopped it, citing technicalities in the NC game laws.

Seems the great men at the NC department of wildlife rewrote the law so capturing an possum for a "ethnic or cultural event" wherein the animal isn't harmed, is just hunky-dory! :)

I'm happy to support anything that aggravates criminals, charlatans and anti-Americans masquerading as animal lovers.

After all, isn't a possum in a cage more interesting than anything in BloomBORGville?
Throw in some bluegrass, and it's even better!

It always baffles me how "big city folk" get worried about animal rights. They should see how animals treat other animals before getting their shorts in a wad about how people treat them!

One thing about it.. the Southern people can have fun with any thing!

But.. I think we need to use a monkey and not a possum...
just to make a political statement!:D

Happy New Year!

Reminds me of the Dave Barry line about the old uncle who told his niece, when she complained about missing some event, "If I'd a' knowed you'd a' wanted to went, I'd a' seen you'd a' got to get to go!"

Be nice fellas - there is room on this earth for all God's creatures. Right next to the biscuits and mashed taters!

The way people treat others at their mercy tells me everything I need to know about em'.

Back a few months ago bunch of tree huggers/bunny lovers got up in arms over possom races in east tenn, wanted the Game Wardens to get involved. Same bunch screamed bloody murder when the State seized a mans pet racoon. So what is it folks? You want the laws enforced or not?

I wouldn't have said anything to the game wardens...
but, I would have told the tree huggers/bunny lovers when they stop horse and dog races we'll consider stopping the possum races.
