Possum Question

Yup, "Hard shell possums.." are Armadillos. Except for the nocturnal antics while I was trying to sleep, Possums make great pets like having a dog. I'd have another tomorrow if they were down here in very, very southern Arizona. This is Mexico only spelled differently.

For some reason, this woke up the redneck in me, and I thought, "You want a possum? I can get you a possum."

Just a memory from 70 some years ago. I grew up on a farm in Southeast Iowa and my Grandpa lived with us, Grandma had died. I was probably six years old or so and quite often my Grandpa and me would go for long walks. One day we happened on a possum with a bunch of little ones. Apparently Grandpa hated possums because he proceeded to beat that thing to death with his long hickory walking stick. I stood and watched this and couldn't figure out why he would do such a thing. I figured it was dead because it sure looked like it.

We left and continued our walk and about an hour later we came back by the spot where this had happened and the possums were gone. That's an event that has forever stuck in my mind.

Like others, possums get a pass in my domain. All others are treated with extreme prejudice.

I did not know trout lived in trees… tho that may explain why Floridians park their ridiculously large boats beneath trees. Efficiency!

Perhaps not trout, but herrings live in shrubberies.
