Post Office alternative

Please show me what delivery/shipping service is cheaper. Pricewise USPS is cheaper on everything except very heavy and/or oversize.

That's just it for me, PG. I ship air rifles, and oversize comes into play very quickly. Howevever, even when I separate actions from stocks, FedEx STILL beats them in cost..plus, they arrive within a week almost without fail. Whereas the P/O stuff can drag-out for two or more.

But if you lived in a different city you might find that the script has flipped.:)

This is quite true, Steve. One thing they both do is to allow franchised outlets. UPS for example at Mail-Boxes Etc (USA?), and FedEx most notably at Kinkos. Those franchise tack-on a fee, so I avoid them. With UPS, I would have to drive about 10miles to their hub site. However, F/E also has corporate shipping centers around town. Quite fast and efficient.

Ordered a 3.5" dia. by 8.5" chunk of steel from somebody in Minnesota two weeks ago. Shipped USPS. I never got it. How do you lose something like that? Not my first rodeo with the Post Office either.

Recently all my USPS transactions are insane, mailed item to Ohio, checked tracking it was in San Diego, my most recent went one hundred miles to Jacksonville and sat there four days.Is there an alternatve to the PO that I don't Know about ?

I've found the Jacksonville hub to be a black hole. Last package went to Jacksonville and fell off the radar for more than a week. Showed up in NJ. Problem with that is that it was going to CA.
