Post War M&P 2 inch

Excellent revolver, and excellent photo grouping. That's one of the last long-action M&Ps. It probably dates to early 1948 (maybe very late 1947).
I never much liked short barrels on mid-sized guns until I got one of these.

I felt the same way.... 'till this one presented itself at a price I couldn't resist. The real beauty of the two inchers becomes obvious the first time you hold one in your hand.
Mine is obviously a short action - ca. 1950.

Nice. I agree a S prefix round butt would be nice to find.
Here's a C prefixed round butt M&P, serial # C 1535XX. Pictured in a Lewis holster.

Thanks for sharing the pics guys! My 2 inch C-prefix M&P is one of my favorite guns to shoot.

I believe a hundred, or LESS, were made. I have seen ONE in my time. The butt is too small for the S and the serial number, but the S is stamped on the barrel with the number.

Cagney and Lacey carried post war M&P snubs. Looks like the one the brunette is carrying is pre-'48 by the looks of the hammer.

The site erroniously says they both carried model 36s. It looks to me like they both have 2 inch M&Ps
