Post war parts on a pre-war frame?

Will a post war n-frame barrel fit on a pre-war gun? How about a post war cylinder?

If so, are there any complications I should be aware of?

The barrel will fit. You may have cosmetic issues because most post war Barrels have a rib and most pre-war frames were cosmetically finished for a non-ribbed barrel. Cylinders will fit, but you may need the whole assembly (ejector rod, center pin, etc). Remember the threads on the ejector rod changed from right to left handed around 1960.
