PPC 5" value

What's a 5" PPC with box and everything going for now days? I know they aren't as rare as the Super 9 but value has to be about the same.

I'd like to know, too, as I have a PPC9, practically unfired, but is a 6".

This were not common guns, as sold to LEOs only on agency letterhead...I had a 5" as well, but sold it years ago to buy two 952 models...then, the PPC9 was so little known that I barely covered my purchase cost when selling it.

It isn't simple to nail down a firm price, but the single largest market place for PC guns is Gunbroker. The very TOP prices on PC guns come from the established, high feedback sellers that have a slew of great pictures and open their auctions at one cent, no reserve.

A 5" PPC-9 with original box, all papers and in high condition but not NIB/mint is likely going to sell no lower than around $2,800. High end would depend on who wants it that night. $3,500 isn't impossible.

Everything else being equal? 6" long slide higher, and not a little higher... significantly higher.

The 952 pistols always seem to be in demand the most, but the 952 was a catalog item. The PPC-9 in comparison was far more difficult to get.

As a side note...
I've watched these for a few years. All else being equal, a PC gun opened at one cent/no reserve gets WAY more interest than a similar offering at a high open price. And also... HIDDEN RESERVE auctions just squash interest. People hate them.

Super 9 was brought in to the discussion. Super 9 is an ultra-cool pistol and if you have one, you have a pretty neat and rare item. But it was not a Performance Center gun. Cool factor is high, but the Super 9 isn't built to the standard of a PPC-9. The PPC-9 is top grade.

I don't believe you can run an "auction" here on the forum, but how do selling prices compare to Gunbroker for a fixed price?

I have zero feedback on Gunbroker, and was going to give the PPC9 to James D Julia for auction due to that...my Will specifies all my collectibles be given to them, just to relieve the burden on my executor...

I'll second that.

I love Super 9's (obviously) and they are ultra cool and rare, but they are production guns not Performance Center guns. I would put the Super 9's build quality a notch above your typical 3rd gen, but not near what you get from the Performance Center (my only PC example is an early LEW 945).

My understanding was there were quite a few PPC 9's built and offered to law enforcement. Many were used heavily. The Super 9 was a limited offering, from the regular line. It fits into a limited group's collections. The 952 is also out there, and I would argue it is as desireable as the the PPC 9. Maybe more so because the sights are more useable for many.

I'm questioning your logic on the sights...PPC9s came with Aristocrat sights, allowing for pre-sets at 3 different distances...it's not ideal for concealed carry, but would never be used for that purpose. My PPC9s were only sighted-in @ 25 yards as that was my most-available range...never used for PPC competition, so, didn't bother setting-up for the two other distances.

Has anyone done a factory-letter requesting production numbers to be included?

I wasn't thinking that any of the 3 would be used for concealed carry. The Aristocrat sight is more to mess with. True you can always set it and forget it. I don't think the value of the gun is in the Aristocrat sight. I've had a revolver for sale with no takers because of the Aristocrat sights.
