Out of not-so-idle curiosity I'm wondering if anyone who has both a Q and 2.0 5" M&P has a preference.

I've got both and one is going (the Q) in trade for a CZ 75B compact. (I don't own any CZs and would like to have one in the safe, I don't need two excellent striker-fired full-sized 9s.)

I traded for the M&P and the previous owner had an Apex trigger installed that's better than the stock Q's and the Smith just feels better in my hand, so my decision isn't too difficult (although I hate giving up a Walther).

As mentioned, I'm just curious in terms of preference. (I'll paste this same question on the Walther board and report back about what the other guys say.

I would be the opposite, trade the M&P and keep the PPQ. Love the Walther trigger but hate the mag disconnect. I have the PPQ 1 with the trigger guard disconnect, the European version, much prefer the American version disconnect. Sure do like the way it shoots though.

We have a PPQ Q5 Match and an M&P 2.0 5" with the Apex FF trigger kit in it. I'm not much of a Walther fan, but stock, the Q5 has a much better trigger. With the Apex, the 2.0 is at least equal to it, IMO. I'm personally more accurate with the 2.0, and like shooting it more. So for me, it would be an easy choice. But we're all different. My wife would be exactly the opposite.

redcoat I don't own a walther but have trigger time with a couple of them and never felt the triggers on a ppq m2 were anything special and I'm not a fan of walthers grip . M&P grips design fits my hand better and the trigger is a easy upgrade that does not cost much it wanted . As it is one of my carry options is a m&p 4.25 40 .

make up your own mind and do what YOU want as it only matters to you .

well, my M&P is a 1.0 with the 5" CORE slide kit. It also has the 2.0 backstrap, a PC sear and a DIY trigger job.

My 5" PPQ (Not Q5) is stock.

From a grip/feel standpoint they are pretty darn close but I'd nod to the PPQ because I can reach the mag release more easily.

If you feel you need to ditch one to fund a CZ, you might check out prices on used handguns in your area. Condition is king. Do you have the original boxes, paperwork and parts (for the M&P)? These things matter to some people and may help speed your sale and increase your sale price.

As for your comment "I don't need two excellent striker-fired full-sized 9s", and not debating what's "Full Size", I can't really comment as I have 2 5" PPQs, a P320, VP9, M&P 9 (still have the 4.25" slide). :)

Beware of CZs, friends tell me that one is never enough!

PPQ has the better trigger without question. Both grips are very ergonomic, but M&P 2.0 has the better texture (for me). M&P 2.0 will probably have the edge in the aftermarket over the PPQ. That said, Combat Pistol: M&P. Race Gun: PPQ (Q5).

I have had three 1.0 M&Ps including one 5" version. I kept none of them. I currently have one 2.0 compact along with two 4" PPQs and one Q5.

I really love my 2.0 and will almost certainly pick up a 5" version this year. The more I shoot it the more I like it. That said, the PPQ is my favorite polymer framed striker fired handgun. And the Q5 is my favorite PPQ for range fun.

It isn't just the trigger on the PPQ that is so good, the whole frame feels like it was molded just for my hand. I put rubber Talons on almost all of my polymer framed handguns. Talons are the only thing required on the PPQs as it comes out of the box. The frame is slightly slick on hot days at the range. They are also required on the 2.0 because of the too aggressive texture on the frame. It feels good at the range, but is just silly rough for carry use so it's either sand it some or use Talons.

In the end it is just a personal choice and nothing more. I can't truthfully argue that the Q5 or the 5" 2.0 is better than the other. Neither can anyone else. I can just say which one I have a slight preference for.

I'm just thankful that we have so many fine choices in handguns. I'm also thankful that we have different preferences. If every shooter liked the Q5 or the 2.0 5" better than any other handgun in the world you can bet that Walther and S&W would jack the prices sky high to extract every bit of profit they could from our purchase.

Just my opinion.
