Pray for my nephew & his shipmates

The TR was the last carrier I was on in the Navy, made 92 days of the 1999 deployment. Good ship and good crew, best food of my years at sea on 4 different carriers.
My thoughts go to the Captain who was removed from Command for his actions due to slow decision making by the brass. He tried to do what was needed to protect his crew and I feel he did the right thing. He should not feel responsible, although he will. He has my respect.
My prayers go out to your nephew and his shipmates who are sick as well as those providing for them.

Prayers being prayed for your nephew and all of those young sailors.

I will say that I’m a little angry at the media for reporting the death on the TR, not releasing the name until next of kin is notified. I know it’s standard, but how about just shut up until after the notification is made. Now there are thousands of sets of parents waiting for a phone call and praying it wasn’t their son or daughter. They just don’t need the added stress at this time.

I hope for the best for your nephew and his crew mates. My feelings on
this is that Navy brass heads should roll. Of course they are all worried
about bucking the system or saying the king has no clothes.

Again, thanks for your posts. Much appreciated. My nephew may see them.

Hopefully, this will let those sailors know of your support and
prayers. Might be a morale booster...:)

Texas Star, praying that the Chaplain doesn't end up at your front door. Praying also for the family, or families, who might experience that as well.

As a Police Chaplain earlier in my life, making death notifications was the most difficult thing that I have ever done. However, I recognize that my distress was nothing compared to that of the families whose lives were changed forever by my news.
