Prayers Needed. Officer Killed in line of duty in our City.UPDATED 12/15/09

Prayers are being sent for the Captain and his family. May God Bless this Captain and may He Rest In Peace with his duty done....

I graduated from Freed Hardeman. It's hard to believe such violence takes place in such a small city.

I, too, graduated from Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, TN. Presently, we have 2 daughters attending there. They emailed us about the tragedy right after it happened. Of course, in such a small town as Henderson, our girls have shopped at the store where the officer was downed. That makes me personally grateful for his sacrifice.

Go and rest in peace my brother in arms. Please accept the prayers for his family, his fellow officers and friends.

This is happening way to often.

Tim, I am in shock. I knew Dennis well and considered him a good friend. I never met a finer man.

I enjoyed many happy hours visiting with him and looked forward to many more.

Rest in peace my friend.

RIP sir and may God watch over your family and all the other fine LEO out there watching over us.

Even after 36 years, the pain of another officer down,is as piercing as the first one. May God lift up the Captain's family in his powerful, loving arms, and comfort them in this sad time. My comfort is knowing he has done his job well and has been called to his heavenly home to suffer no more. Mark McCarver

I only hope we don't lose sight of how truly brave this officer was, even after being shot he continued the fight, protecting innocent citizens at the highest cost, I can only hope that if my time comes I will be that brave.

"The Final Inspection"

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Greetings,

We hate to hear of a LEO being killed, and will most certainly keep the good Captain in our prayers tonight. In fact, we pray for all our LEO's, Firefighters, and medical folks every single night, without fail. They all lay it on the line for us, and it's an honor to do that small thing for them, in return. Take care, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,
Doc and Sweet Bride

My condolences to his family. It's bad enough to lose a loved one but right before the holidays makes it worse. May God bless them all.
