My wonderful wife of nearly 35 years had a biopsy of her right lung today and has been diagnosed with cancer in both lungs. She's only 57 and has never smoked!! She has not been staged yet but her x-rays and CT scans don't look good. Today has been an emotional roller coaster for me and my kids and other family members. My wife has never had any serious illnesses, just the common colds and such. I had to keep it together during the day for my daughters sake as she is 8+ months pregnant and doesn't need any additional stress right now. My sister and brother in law drove down as soon as they heard the news from me. My sister right now is my rock! My son is in Houston and is planning on coming home as soon as possible or as soon as we have more info. They took the biopsies and expect to have more information either Sunday or Monday. When they were doing the biopsy her right lung collapsed and right now she is sedated and on a ventilator. All thoughts and prayers can do nothing but help!! Hopefully we'll some good news and this will be treatable. The waiting for info is awful!!. Thank you to all!:(

Update: The last two days have been rough! She has been kept sedated on pain meds and is on a ventilator since the Biopsy surgery Friday morning. I spoke with her charge nurse in ICU a little while ago and they expect to get her off of the vent today. We're still awaiting the results of the biopsies, probably late tomorrow or early Tuesday. As of yet she doesn't know that it is cancer. When I left the hospital last night she was semi-conscious and responding to my voice and touch. She can't talk yet because of the breathing tubes but does nod her head in response to questions. Please continue her in yours prayers. Thanks and God Bless!!

Update 4-1-2010
Well, the results of the biopsies came back yesterday and it's not good news. They had just moved her from ICU to a regular recovery room on March 30th when her Oncologist came in with the news. They will probably discharge her to home care today. It still hasn't been formally staged yet until she has a PET scan but the doc said it's either Stage 3 or Stage 4 and Grade 3, Both lungs are nearly totally involved. There is a drug called Tarceva that her doctor said in Clinical Trials worked well specifically for Asian-Non Smoking-Women. so that's what they are going to start her on. The biggest advantage to Tarceva is that it doesn't have the typical side effects of Chemo. No hair loss and hardly any nausea. Less loss of appetite and it is taken in pill form once a day rather than as the typical 3 medication Chemo treatment. Her only symptoms leading up to this had been a persistent cough. Please continue to keep her in your prayers!! On top of this my daughter had a Sonogram yesterday and found out her baby is breeched and they will have to do a C-Section this coming Monday. So say a prayer for her too!! Lord knows I am! Thanks all!!

On the list . . .

Our Father in heaven. We come to You this morning, to lift up this woman and her family to You, and ask You to place Your healing hands upon her, for we know all healing does flow from You. We ask You to use her doctors, nurses, and the rest of the medical facilities, as Your instruments, to do Your will, Father. We ask that You would grant the peace that surpasses all understanding to her family members who must stand and wait. We ask that You give them all the courage to face the unknown, with You by their side.

We ask these things, Father, for Your glory, and Your honor, and in the name of Your precious and most holy Son, Jesus the Christ.

Amen...Praise God!

For God's sake, don't give up. I'm dealing with cancer myself right now. There are a lot of new cancer treatments available that no one dreamed of a few years ago. My cousin had one of her lungs removed because of cancer about ten years ago. About three years ago they found cancer in her remaining lung. They put her on an experimental cancer treatment, and she is still going strong today.

My prayers to you and your loved ones............stay strong and believe.........
