Pre 24 Value

Looking at a Pre 24 100% cond. bright blue finish, correct magna grips( do not know if numbered to gun)in the box with all tools asking $2500. Is this a high number or in the ball park....Thanks....Louis

That sounds high, perhaps by about $500? That said, if it is as stated you won't find many similar complete packages. Good luck in your decision.

$2500, gotta look at the grips. To me that is a bundle of cash, but
its a lot of gun. They dont come along that often. As a shop and show employee, its about full retail. If it were on my table, I would try for that price. Depending on how long I want to lug it around. If it is in a shop, the owner has done his research on Gun sites. Its right there in front of you, you are not buying on line from pics. Go talk to the owner and look at the grips. Take cash with you if you are serious. Good luck and best

I don't think I've ever seen a gun in 100% condition; certainly not one that is 50 or 60+ years old. If I didn't know it had stocks numbered to the gun I certainly wouldn't assume it to be 100%. Ok, so maybe nit picking, and it is 98 or 99%. I'd look it over very carefully and the associated box, documents, and tools too. In any case, very nice and not available often. Worth $2500? I'd have a hard time paying that much for it. On the other hand, I recently traded a Python for a pre-27, a 27-2 and a 25-5. Would I have traded it for the package you're considering, maybe. So, if you've got the funds and want it, buy it. It will likely continue to appreciate and at a higher rate than many other options. Good luck.

If the gun is truly flawless, in bright blue finish, the box and stocks number to the gun with all the correct tools and docs I don't see the price being out of line. Is it the top of the market? Absolutely.

There aren't many "New In Box" examples laying around ...

Thanks to all for the feedback. Unfortunately, like many of these offerings, things are not always what them are described. Gun is flawless. However, grips do not number to the gun, brochure is a copy and the tools are not correct. It is more like a $1700.00 piece. Appreciate everyone's input.....Louis

Is the box numbered to the gun in white grease pencil on the bottom? Look for a large B following the barrel serial # to confirm it's a factory Bright blue finish. Also check the left side of grip frame under the grip for a factory re-blue date and a star following the serial # on the butt.

Let it collect a little dust for a month or so, then they may be open to a more reasonable offer.

If it is truly a 100% gun with numbered stocks and original box, I think $2500 is reasonable - not top of the market. I have owned several 100% P24s and those of us that seek only 100% guns will pay the price. There are dozens 98% guns for every 100%. A 100% gun does not have a cylinder ring!
Go get it. They are very hard to find - if it's really 100%. Worth more if it's bright blue or special sights.

Good points Hondo. A factory refinish could very well equal a bright blue 100% finish. You gotta ask yourself why would anyone change out grips on a 100% original gun. It should have just sat in the sock drawer all these years.
