These old things?...I didn't have room in the other case for one of the 3 1/2" Magnums so I had to park it with the big boys...They all got along well... ...Ben

Think the 44 Spl was made in 3 inch not 3.5. Model 24 and 624.

There has been at least one (maybe two) special order 3.5" 44 special that has surfaced on this forum.

I didn’t realize they made a 44 special with a 3.5 inch barrel.

I believe it was Bill Cross who counted six of them...Mine was a special order that was cut from a 6 1/2" barrel to a 5" to please a customer before it was first shipped in 1953...Two years later it went back to be cut again to 3 1/2"...Three different barrel lengths on the same gun, all factory...I have the original 5" marked box it first shipped in...Details here... ...Ben

I appreciate it when someone actually reads those and looks at all the pics and provenance...I write an article on each gun I own and post it like that...On some the history takes up a lot of space, others not so much...But every gun has its own history waiting to be told...My sigline below might explain my feelings......Ben

Our friend, Paul (Weatherby on the forum) has posted this Special Order 3.5" beauty on several occasions (but I think it is an even rarer 45 Cal - and a pinto with Birdseye Maple grips too boot).
