I picked this one up a few years back at a local shop. Serial number S 161009
shipped March 28, 1956 to Jesse E. Harpe in Tampa, FL. Apparently this guy was a well known dealer/gunsmith. No presentation case or anything with it.

Also in the safe is it's twin serial # S 165884 that came to me with a presentation case. According to Roy it shipped in April 1956.

Beautiful .44s! I had hoped to acquire a birth year .44 magnum some day (same year as those two, '56) but as I rapidly approach retirement there are other things I need to spend the funds on lol.

Well done sir.

I'd hope he was a dealer...that's a lot of irons for one man to be shootin'...

Very nice acquisition! The closest I own to yours is a 4-screw with 6-1/2" bbl. from 1958. I'm afraid that I can never own a birth year .44 Magnum since I was born in 1954...I settled for a first year/birth year Highway Patrolman. Congratulations, and enjoy your early .44 Magnums!

Congrats on a pair of nice and very early 44 Magnums. The first guns shipped in January, so to have one from March and one from April is outstanding.
Here is my 4-inch from December 1956.
