I have a few questions on a Pre-Model 10 that's been in my family for years. The gun is a .38 special 5 screw with a 5 inch barrel, serial number 570XXX. The top of the barrel has Smith and Wesson Springfield Mass USA Patented Feb 06 06 Sept 14 09 Dec 29 14 stamped on it. The backstrap is stamped C.H. Fuller. The family lore is that it was my Great Grandfather's service revolver when he was chief of police in a ND town and that C.H. Fuller was a traveling salesman that sold guns. There appears to be a spot on the right side that someone professionally removed a marking from? Any thoughts or insight is appreciated
