I SAW A NICE OLD PRE MODEL 10 ON HERE YESTERDAY, AND REMEMBERED I HAD ONE IN THE BACK OF THE SAFE. MINE WAS MADE IN 1953, AND WAS SOLD TO THE U.S GOVERNMENT, BUT THERE ARE NO U.S. PROPERTY MARKINGS.

That's a nice one, Ronnie. Thanks for posting it.

Ronnie, that's a nice 'un! Funny that you should post this now. I bought one from Bo Barrow, along with a 10-7, a few of days after Christmas in 2007. That night, we had to rush my wife to the hospital. She was in hospital for six days, and a lot of Christmas presents got packed away, only to be rediscovered later on. The old M&P got stuck back in the safe. I got it out one cold day a couple of weeks ago and shot it for the first time. Here are the results.

The first picture is six rounds from 20 yards, resting on a rolled-up jacket across the hood of my truck. Still shivering a little from taking the jacket off. Six O'Clock hold right on the X.

Next picture is six more rounds (148 grain WC) with a six O'Clock hold on the bottom of the red circle. I had warmed up a little, too. I'd say that's pretty good shootin' for a 63 year old gun and a 61 yo shooter on a cold day.

The holster is a Lobogunleather flap style.

I bleeve I'll just keep the old obsolete thing.;)

My dealer has a nice pre 10 in his safe with the original sales receipt $56.

THEY WERE PROBABLY FRIGHTENED OFF BY YOUR SHOUTING

Seriously, I've seen three different variations of US property markings on commerical revolvers. One type, on the backstrap of an M&P virtually identical to the pictured weapon were authenticated thru a factory letter. I also examined a Colt Police Positive Special handstamped US on the toe of the grip which was part of an army aviation unit's weapons. I've also seen weapons marked on the left frame. Given this lack of consistancy, is it possible some revolvers purchased for US military use are unmarked? Hopefully someone more schooled than myself in this subject will comment.
