Pre Model 15, 5" Barrel

At the gun show today talking to a friend about an upcoming auction. The gun is as described to me a five screw pre model 15 with a five inch barrel. His information is that there were 250 made for the Missouri Highway Patrol. Apparently the auction house has confirmed that it is correct but does not have a letter. I am going to preview it on Friday. Auction is in Rolla, Mo. on Saturday. Anyone with insight on this. Thanks. If the information changes on the gun I will post it.

Member linde here is the local expert on 5” Combat Masterpieces (tapered barrel, MSHP) and 5” K-38s (heavy barrel, IL State Police). If you have the serial number many of these are known and verified.

Here are pictures of a 5" barrel K38 that I formerly owned. As informed by linde it isn't one of the the Illinois State Police issues. After looking at pictures and remembering how well it shot, I'm having regrets. Oh well, not my first and surely not my last regret.
