Again I was lucky to find a rare gun, especially here in Germany. It is a nickel plated pre-model 27 with the long 8 3/8" tube. The gun ins in great condition. The only negative is, that it came with a pair of after market target grips which have nothing to do with that revolver. I decided to attach a pair of smooth original S & W grips on to the frame. I also have a pair of coke bottles, but I hate to use them because they are close to mint. The gun has SN S 109716 which dates it back to 1954 / 1955. Everything is as it should be. I still have to test it on the shooting range seriously. I only made 10 shots which punched within a circle of 2" - distance was 25 meters. When I find the time to make serious tests I will report and show some targets. This revolver is definitely hard to find in Germany, because there is no discipline in target shooting it can be used for, i.e. you won't get a liscense. Knocking down silhouettes maybe an option, but was not known here in 1955. Can somebody tell me for sure if this gun could have coke bottle grips? To my knowledge it should have diamond center target stocks. If I can find a pair I will buy it, but that's not so easy over here.
Anyway, I'm happy with what I got.

very nice pre27! That gun either came with checkered diamond magna stocks or non relieved checkered or smooth target stocks.

I believe that it would have shipped with diamond walnut target stocks.

I collect the 8.375" 357's and that is the 1st 5-screw nickel one I can recall seeing in that length. Congrats on a great find, and good luck in your search for the correct stocks.:)
