Picked up a few weeks ago. Serial Number 935633,
has serial number on frame, cylinder, barrel and
right grip. 4" barrel, 38 special, laynard ring. Checkered wood grips w/ gold emblems.
Has the number "3", stamped next to the laynard
ring. No other marking, other than standard
S&W markings. Dull blue finish, about 60 percent
I would guess. Barrel bore is nice and bright.
Any idea when it was made?

It sounds like it might be an M&P that was made right before the big war, early 40s. The only thing that doesn't sound correct is your description of the color of the stock medallion. They probably started off as silver and were cleaned/washed/ rubbed until the brass underneath now shows. Solid revolver. Welcome to the forum.

Guns with close serial numbers were all shipped in April 1942 to the Defense Supply Comm. as Guard or Police guns. Ed.

I did just a light cleaning of the medallions,
one side is part silver, did not want to destroy
what finish was left on them.

Thnk you for the contribution to our database. I agree with Ed that your gun was probably shipped in the March-April, 1942, time period.
