Presentation Box Liner

Does anyone know if someone sells replacement liners for presentation box. I have a 29-2 6 inch that needs the liner replaced.
Thank for anyone's input or suggustions.

It's a wonder what you can learn here, and I'm tickled that this thread came along! Back when I bought my NIB M29, 8 3/8" barreled, nickel finish revolver, it came in it's original paper S&W box, with all it's goodies, AND, it's original presentation box, still packed as it was the day it had shipped with the gun!! However, when I opened it up, alas, the lining on the inside of the case had deteriorated over the years, and it looked horrible! I do believe that my M29 had never even been placed inside that box.

Fast forward to yesterday, when I found this thread, and I says to myself, "Hey, Doc! You have a brand new presentation case for your M29 that looks horrible inside! Send it to Joe, and let him do his magic on it"! (Hey, even Old Farts can get a good idea once in a while!!)

Question: I'm going to be sending my case to Joe, and to that end, will be sending him an email as soon as I post this here. But, should I also take some photos of how it looks, now, and include those in my email, to give him a heads-up on what needs to be done? I may go ahead and do that, anyway, so I can show some "before and after" photos here, after Joe does his magic and returns my case.

Joe has done a couple for me. If the outside of the presentation box looks good, you will only need to send him the liners. He can work magic with them IMHO.

Thanks, very much, for the additional endorsement for Joe's work, and for the extra info! Much appreciated. Yeah, my case has never been used, and has been packed in the original shipping box since the day the gun was purchased by my friend, many, many years ago. He bought my M29 as an investment, and put it away, along with a NIB M58, also nickel finished, and I bought both of them from him, at $400, each, never fired, and still NIB, as far as I was concerned. He never even worked the action on either pistol! I've since shot my 29 tons, and love it very much. I can't quite make myself shoot the M58, even though the .41 is my most favorite handgun cartridge of all time! It's so outstanding to have an unfired specimen, and the guns looks so great, that I've held off on firing it. I could probably turn it to at least double my money. But, in truth, I have no interest in doing so, at least not now, or at least not unless someone offers me the moon for it, which is not going to happen these days. So, I'll probably shoot it, "one of these days", and will report here, when that day has come.

But, back to the case, the outside is untouched and mint, just the inside has rotted. The original owner lived in Tucson, AZ, and over the years, I guess the heat out there rotted the inside of the case, even though it was stored away and untouched. I feel confident that Joe can make it like brand new again, and sent him an email, with photos, asking for his help. I'll let you know how it turns out, and will post "before", and "after" photos, along with my M29, when that happens. Thanks, again, and God Bless!

The molded plastic that Smith used on these is SOOOOOOOOO darn cheap. Considering they were only used on the upper end firearms it is a shame. Thank goodness for Joe.

Joe did two boxes for me. One for my 27-2 and one for my 29-2. One of the boxes was missing the little lid down on the bottom and he supplied me wth one. One was flocked and one was cloth. Both came out looking amazing. I keep them locked in my safe as well as the guns. You will not be disappointed. Brian

Many thanks, to one and all, who shared information about Joe, and examples of his outstanding work! I've been in contact with him, and will be sending him my liners tomorrow!! As he and I discussed, with the Holidays upon us, he's working hard to take care of the orders he already has. So, I am content to wait until it's convenient for him to do my liners, and after reading all you have had to say, and seeing your shared photos, am absolutely confident that Joe is the right man for this job!!
