Looking at a 8 3/8" barrel, nickel 27 with presentation case and tools. Haven't seen it yet but supposed to be in excellent condition and is asking $750. Seems a little high to me but never owned one of these and he may go lower. What do u guys think.

That's a little steep for my area, $650 would be a buy, $700 would be the going rate. The longer the barrel, the cheaper they are.

Thanks, kind of what I was thinking. Weird how longer the barrel brings the value down..... takes more material and cost more to make. I guess if I made guns I would stick to Snubbies! LOL

Long barrels are impressive and nice to look at, but unless you are into distance target shooting or small game hunting, they are not very practical. Some may need one to fill a collection niche though.

Pistu, the longer barrel Smiths are cheaper due to the demand for them is not as great as say a 3.5", 4", 5", or 6" barrel. The price of $750 is what sellers are asking in my area. But, they are not selling at that price, they are still for sale. I would guess, and that all I am doing, is that $625 to $650 would be a very good price. Good luck with you decision/purchase.

Earlier this year, an identical gun sat on a local dealer's shelf for months with an asking price of $650. It finally sold, but I don't know at what price. $600 or maybe even less would be a good guess.
