krehmkej: Did some Model 65-5s come with the ejector rod housing shroud or is your revolver a LadySmith?
Or maybe had the barrel replaced with one off of a 66?

I'm seeing $600 mentioned a few times. I've got a chance on a deal for a 3" 65 (I've been wanting one forever). It's not quite "NIB", but comes with original box, etc., and I think it's a pretty good deal for here in Germany. After the daily conversion rate, it comes to about $592 and pocket change. What do you 65 experts think? The dealer is a reputable guy.

I'm certainly no Model 65 expert (if I was I probably wouldn't have started this thread LOL!) but I would think that a 3" 65 is probably even rarer in Germany than it is here in the USA.
I've visited Europe a lot over the years, and one of the things I've noticed is that American goods, firearms included, are the exotic, expensive imports over there. I once saw a plain-Jane Winchester 1300 Ranger 12-gauge priced at 500 Euros, and I've seen the little single-AAA battery Maglites, which Sears sells for about $6, priced at the equivalent of $20 there. So...if you can snag a 3" 65 with box for that price, I would say go for it!![]()
After seeing some of the comments, looks like it'll be worth the effort, and I mean it'll be some effort. The cost is nothing the paperwork is a nightmare. S&Ws are actually pretty common over here; some years ago the hunters really wanted them for "finishing shots"; this 3" 65 was one of the favorites. Also, soldiers stationed over here would sell them into the German economy. For instance, I just bought a 547 recently, got no idea how it ended up here, but it was NIB.
Can't quite make out your avatar beemerguy, watcha' got there? I've got an old K75S I bought 21 years ago; still have it here in Germany.
