I know it’s hard with no pictures but here goes. Asking for a buddy looking at one. Serial number start with S1. He didn’t remember how many digits. I was guessing 53 to 56 since no model number. Nickel finish. He says is peeling some. 3.5 barrel. Asking price is $1000. I know it’s a broad range with not much to go on. Thank you fine gentleman for any input.

I’d sprain my shoulder ripping my wallet out to pay for a 3.5” barrel pre-27. I’m no expert but unless it’s in pretty poor condition it’s probably a killer deal.

If it is one that I have seen for sale, it is in pretty ratty condition. I would be more interested in it at $650 or so...

Nickel pealing,3 1/2" bbl grips # to it or not? Lockup,endshake,push-off? Standard trigger, hammer, sights? IMHO (w/ no photos to guess by) if everything mentioned is good wpuld be hard to duplicate for mentioned price. You activeley looking or is this a target of oppurtunity? Grail gun, safe queen or shooter? Functioning N frame generally will bring that money.

I’ve not seen it. Not sure how timing or end shake may be. Unsure of original finish. I was thinking around 750 as it was described to me but the 3.5 inch barrel had me second guessing. It’s not listed anywhere online. Local buy.

I paid $1200 for a factory refinished 3.5 inch from 1950 several years ago so $1k isn't unreasonable if the condition is good. From your description though the condition sounds questionable and quite possible a flaking nickel refinish. In which case a price well below $1k may be more appropriate. Really hard to tell though without good pictures or handling it.
