My friend has a model 52-1 that came with a counter weight and would like to know what the value of the counter weight is. It is in good condition about 95%. Can anyone help ? Thanks Richard

Hello:

You will first need to establish whether it is original S&W or a reproduction. There are good reproductions for half the price of OEM.

Thanks. I don't remember seeing any stamping or marks on the weight and the next chance to see it will be sat. By the way what should an original one look like is size and markings. Richard

I've got a repro on my 52-2. I couldn't tell you what the real thing looks like because I've never seen one. Mine was made by a man who sells them on Gunbroker. The repros can be had for about $75. The real thing, it's my understanding, run twice that much.

By the way, you're posting questions about a semi-auto pistol on the revolver forum. There are folks in the semi-auto forum who have forgotten more than I know about Model 52s
