Looking at selling my 3" CS-1 686. In excellent condition. I have personally put less than 2 boxes of .38 Speer Gold Dots through it and 2 cylinders of .357 mags. No box or papers but a really sweet revolver.

Looking to get the most possible for it here on the Forum versus putting it on GB.

Thanks.

Since you asked and I've always got an opinion, I'd start it at $1000 and see if anyone bites. You can always come down. But if it were mine I would not sale it.

It's cool you'd be letting a fellow S&W forum member have a real chance at it...but, as I'm sure you've seen, people can and do pay some ridiculously high prices on GB. A 3" CS-1, though? I know I'd have a hard time letting one of those go...they don't come around every day.

I just picked mine up in great condition with original box and pachs for 1100. Keep in mind however that I am in California, where they are hard to come by considering we can't bring them in from out of state. Although I am sure there are more, I have only ever seen one other for sale in Cali.

Thanks guys! Does anyone else have an opinion on what you would ask for it?

Disclaimer: My picture stinks and does not do this CS-1 justice:)!

I am buying the 3" from the same guy that sold the 4" to me. Minty clean with new rosewood Eagle grips for $790 shipped. Same price I paid for the 4". No box or papers on either. He had it listed on the net for $840 shipped and no one bit so he called me up.

Price is a matter of timing. If the right person is looking when you're selling and they have more money than patience, you may get 1K. If not, you may have to sit on it awhile. These are scarce but since I bought the 4" a couple months ago, I've seen at least a half dozen up for grabs.

If you need the money, try for $800. If you just don't need it hanging around, try for 1k.

But...I'd hang onto it if I were you. By the time you decide you'd like to have it back it will cost you $1200.

This is a great response and reflects my experience with letting "the rarer" ones go as well. Sometimes there's a drought, sometimes there's a flood. It's usually a drought when I'm looking and a flood when I'm selling. :)

I will repeat the words of wisdom you posted for me when I was thinking of selling mine last year: "You'll regret selling it". I didn't listen, went ahead and sold it to fund another project. You were right, I did regret it!

I just might regret sir it but am now into old Winchesters. Hate safe queens and this ones been a safe queen for years. Going to be on the For Sale board this weekend. $850.00 + shipping.

Should be gone quickly at that price!
Good luck with your sale.
