At my online guy he listed a '69 dated m57/8 3/8", blue, presentation case, Goncalo Alves grips in 41 mg, in 98/99% condition for $1,999.
My thoughts,
A while back the longer barrels were the unwanted redheaded step child, plus priced cheaper. What happened? Does this mean the shorter barrels are priced higher?

A couple years ago, I bought 2 NIB M57's at once. 1979-80 vintage. One 6" and one 4". The 4 " is in a wood case, the 6" was boxed. I sold the 6" for 1650.00, and i am still trying to figure out what to ask for the 4". The prices seem to change daily

Revolvers with barrels longer than 6 inches have limited uses. They are very difficult to carry concealed and not real comfortable on a belt if you are seated in a vehicle. They are good for hunting and target shooting at 50 yards or more. This makes them less desirable to most shooters who are looking for something for home defense or possibly carry. I think a used Model 57 with the 8 3/8" barrel, even with all it's accessories and box, at $2000 is too high, even in today's inflationary market.

In April of last year I sold a 57-2 8 3/8 (no box/etc.) for $1000. In September I bought a 4 inch no dash 98+% condition (N SN) in presentation box (the usual deteriorated inside) with tools (no docs) for $1170 and a 6 inch -1 for $1050 unfired in the box. Don't see too many 57s for sale where I shop and I probably wouldn't have gotten these if the shop owner hadn't called me before he put them out. Wouldn't sell them for those prices now though (to state the obvious I guess) but don't think I could get $1999 for either of them. Not that that matters as they're now safe queens for the foreseeable future.

Going to pull the stags off this one and put on some
Pachmayer's and drop in on my table at a small
East Texas show this weekend at around $1300....I doubt it budges.
Tight and right shooter grade.
Prices are absolutely nutz.

I'm pretty sure I recognize the source of those stags...I'll look at it when I get there...Maybe we'll be table neighbors...Joe promised me an endcap close to the door since his shows have sucked so badly for me in the past...:o...Ben

its ambitiously priced at 2000,even considering its an S serial number. $1400 to $1700 is better. Personally I much prefer the long barrels for range work, plus I think they look better

I bought a blued 8 3/8ths for $900 at a LGS about 6 months ago. Only reason I bought it was I didn't have an 8 3/8ths and it was S serial numbered. Also I checked and it was under priced according to the blue book I use as a guide. I see them priced at gunshows between $1200 - $1500.

I have 2 3" 657s and know their value has gone up considerably in the past few years. I occasionally see the 6 inchers going for $800 to $1000 with target stocks but no box.

This all depends on the buyer? One man's poison is anthers porage.
