Price For Smoothing A Trigger

I do not know if that is a good price or not.
However, I find that many gunsmiths are charging in the $50-$75/hour range. And some have a base rate from wich they start pricing for any work under an hour, my experience it is $ 75 in Arizona.

Honest to God, I know one of these guys; some look at you and decide how much you are willing to pay. So don't drive up in a BMW or MB or go in wearing clothing, jewelry considered upper class (have too much money).

That's probably his minimum.

You didn't have him improve the trigger pull?

It's hard to tell from your post.

If are looking high end and you tell the Smith that you have really deep pocket gun buddies, that will use him/her if their work is proper, you might get a great price and other perks. :D

IMHO, if your Gunsmith is good, honest and knows exactly what he is doing, $75 bucks is more than fair. Remember, you're not paying for the small amount of metal being removed, you're paying for his knowledge, time to disassemble, smooth trigger and reassemble the revolver. If he's competent, he'll also inspect and lubricate it while inside. $75 seems like a bargain - for a competent GS.

For $ 75 you got away cheap. My gunsmith used to charge $150 for a smooth reliable action job. He now charges $ 250 for the same work. Inflation.

He's worth every penny.

I believe Jimmy was referring to actually smoothing only the trigger face and tip of the actual trigger-not the action. Still, $75 is quite fair now days.

That sounds like a very fair price for Central Florida

Did you discuss his fee prior to him doing the work?

Did you have other Gun Smiths quote the Job?

Are you Happy with the turnaround time?

Are you pleased with the job he did?

Did he blue the polished Trigger to avoid future corrosion to the bare metal?

Here is additional info to my prior post.

Here is a copy of a Phoenix area gunsmiths price list.

So, I guess $75 is the magic number.
