price on a colt huntsman

The barrel is actually 4 1/2 " but it doesn't really matter. A few years ago I bought a really nice Challenger on GB for $450 but prices have gone up since then. The Challenger was the predecessor of the Huntsman. It had brown plastic grips instead of wood and the funny looking trigger known as the double curve trigger. $600 may be slightly high but where are you going to even find another one like it?

Antithesis of rare, but fantastic pistol. As they made sooooo many, the prices of these just aren't all that high and depend mostly on condition. Your description of it's condition isn't exactly detailed, but if this pistol is in nearly mint shape, $600 is a decent price.

If it's truly "early", then you're talking around 1955 or so.

Good price in the condition that you describe. Huntsman is a really nice gun, and great shooter...

I have one just as described. Was my late fathers. It is without question one of my favorite pistols. Hard to find magazines for now but I lucked out several years ago as was able to purchase 3 brand new colt mags for $50. $600 as described I would not hesitate to grab it!!

The Challenger was a lower-cost and simplified version of the Woodsman, which I always thought that it was intended as a competitive response to the Ruger Standard Model that appeared about a year or so earlier. The Challenger was on the market about 5 years before it was replaced by the Huntsman. Externally, the Huntsman and the Challenger look nearly identical, but I believe that there are some internal differences. Regarding the price, $600 is not terrible if you are a Colt fan. There are not many Colts in decent condition that you can find today for $600. But if you just want a good .22 semiauto, there are better choices available for less money.

As described, I'd pick it up for $600. I recently picked up a 99% first year Huntsman with the black plastic grips for $700. It came with some papers and a Colt archives letter too but, no box. I'm still very happy. It's such a fantastic pistol!

$600 is a good price for that gun, in that condition if you want it. They won't be getting cheaper.
