I believe this might be the first model 649,I've run across. No box, or paperwork. Pretty nice little revolver. Slight turn line, other than that looks like a 90% plus piece. The owner is asking $600. Just seeing if that's a good price,or what would be a fair price to offer.

A photo would help, $600 is a decent price. The last one I saw, my son bought as soon as we checked it out. I haven't seen another for sale locally in ten years.

I have two 649 "no dashes". It took almost 10 years to find them. IMHO opinion, the 649 is the best pocket pistol ever designed. $600 would not even temp me to sell one of mine. If you really want one, I would be getting while the getting was good.

Just bought one off of Gun Broker this month. Paid $600 for a mint 649. With tax and shipping it was closer to $700. I don't think it was a screaming deal, but I didn't overpay. Opinions will vary.

Don't think about; go buy it.
$600 is a good price and the the 649 is the best pocket revolver out there.IMG_0637.jpeg

I really don't now what can be considered a good price over there. I love the 649. I bought mine in juny, here in Italy, from a gun shop for 450 € (522 dollars). I love it.View attachment 781903
So you can purchase a handgun in Italy? .38? See we hope to go to Rome within a year.. would love to see their gunshops.. but somehow I doubt I can pack my Centennial with me... bummer!

Don't think about it long, as it will be gone. Earlier 649's are uncommon. Depending on the service it saw, the SA feature may have been deleted from the hammer; check that as you are buying. As-new old stock 649 hammers are scarce and pricey. You might be OK with an older gen 640, but not if you are wanting the SA capability.

Buying and owning firearms isn't particularly difficult here. Just a little paperwork is required. The problem is obtaining a license to carry. This is practically impossible for the average citizen.
