Thinking about getting one of these and I wondered if it has enough oomph to take out carpenter bees?
It doesn't even have to kill them, just drop it long enough to get squashed.
I have a badminton racket and that has worked well, but sometimes the little buggers are too
close to something to get a swing.
Yes, I've read the threads where folks shoot them, I only wish I was able to pull that off, here in town.

Maybe, if you swat 'em hard enough!

I have some garage tools for dealing with insects. The electric swatter is really intended for mosquitos. If you hit a fly while holding down the zap button, it will stun but not kill them. If they happened to get caught in the outer wires and you keep the button down, their wings and legs fry. I just whacked a sweat bee that was annoying me and it hasn't been back!

The Bug-A-Salt does work on flies, But I have to let them land. I'm not very successful taking them on the wing. They do offer n a more powerful version (The SHRED-ER) that handles hornets and scorpions, but it takes C02 cartridges and is over $100.

Edit to add:
If you're barefoot/wearing shorts and a a bug lands on your foot/leg, DON'T shoot it. o_O

The " horrible freight" ones have killed any and all bugs I've hit. 2 D call batteries.
That's the one I saw today that got me started on this.
The D battery thing I didn't like although they only wanted $5 for theirs.
I ordered a 4kvolt one from Amazon and will see how it works, I didn't see any
over 4100k and I don't remember seeing what HF said theirs puts out.

I have used dishsoap and water shot out of a spray bottle
If you get them right they drop out of the air like "aces high" lol
I believe the soap suffocates them
A favourite memory of mine , shooting wasps out of the air with my then 9 year old son , each of us armed with our own spray bottle
Dad dad I hit one , dad I just got another one
Dad I think I just got stung ! … yep I just got stung !
Dad dad I got another one ..!
Didn't even give the sting another thought kept shooting wasps
Haha that's my boy , tough as nails and hard on grub
Good shot too

First time I saw one of those battery powered racquets , I just had to try it on myself
I was at a family function at the lake and while everyone was talking and visiting , I turned it on and put my tongue on it
Yep , you definitely get a shock lol
I don't remember if there was a noise or a smell but everyone looked at me and my dad just kinda shook his head in disappointment
"Dough head" was all he said

Two years ago a wasp stung me in my backyard, so I went full Paul Kersey on them. The nests on my property were handled with brake cleaner and wasp spray…the singles that come in from other areas get hunted down one at a time.

The shock racket works well but you have to be close and leaves will sometimes discharge it prematurely. I've had much better luck with Dawn dish soap mixed with water in a spray bottle. Ajax soap doesn't work as well…Dawn will knock them right out of the air.

I consider it a lifetime achievement that the wasps now think of me as a predator and leave the area when I come near them.

Just how in Sam Hill are you going to keep from shooting the fly in the eyes or face with that thing? ;)
