Could that have been Mattell Shoot'n shells?View attachment 761454
Not quite. Mine was a SAA replica, full size, and the bullets were metal. The case got smashed against the rear of the bullets to pop the caps.

My only "indestructable toy is my old Tonka dump truck from the early 50's........It sits on a shelf in my shop along with my sons idestructable Tonka dump truck and End loader from the late 70's........All metal.......No cheap plastic. There’s no way I would have been able to keep any of my toy guns in that kind of shape! Nice find. I only have two “toys” that I can think of that are still usable. An old hatchet and a two-sided fishing knife. ( Legal inches and Dishonest fishermen inches).
Good heavens! Don't tell me those are LEAD icecicles on that tree! Call Child Protective Service! Call EPA! Call OSHA! (Can't expose Santa to lead poisoning) And call the NRA to report the poor muzzle discipline!ShView attachment 761752owed this before. My brother and yours truly at Christmas long ago.
We lived in Dallas at that time as well! The Wynnewood apts. on Pratt St. The flying red horse was the brightest light on the skyline at night, lolI rode the bus to downtown Dallas at about the age of 12 to buy a gun at the Adolphus Hotel gift shop. I don't remember the name of it, but it came with 6 two-piece cartridges. Remove the "bullet", place a cap in the case, put the bullet back in, and load the cylinder. I thought that was the neatest thing since peanut butter. That would have been in around 1953 - 54.
