I was at Cabela's because I need a new raccoon trap. I had borrowed one from a friend and thought I had gotten them all rounded up. After 3 weeks raccoon-free I gave it back and somebody told them the coast was clear to return!

Anyway, they want $89 for a 10x12x32 and I almost paid it but the line was too long and the clerk acting stoopid so I left it in the cart and walked out. (Man, I'm getting as bad as some of you guys!:D)

Came home and looked it up on Amazon. Same Make and Model - $43.87 and Free 2nd Day Shipping.

I do my best to support brick-and-mortar and am willing to pay a buck or two more but not that much. More than twice the price?? That is, in my opinion, outrageous.

Agree. But don't always think you're getting the best price on sites like Amazon (I'm an Amazon Prime member and buy a lot of stuff on Amazon). I recently got burned on two sets of chair casters, that I could have purchased directly from the manufacturer for $17 cheaper. And that included shipping.

Cabela's rarely has the best price on anything I use.

I buy from them because their customer service is excellent.

In my opinion, Amazon has the on line ordering and shipping thing figured out. They've got regional warehouses around the country. LOTS of times, I can order something tonight and it arrives tomorrow. If it's not in a local warehouse it takes all of TWO days. "Free" shipping with Amaz Prime.

Cabelas, Midway, Brownells usually NOTIFY me of the shipment in the same amount of time that Amazon gets it here. The actual stuff takes a week to arrive.

Cheaper Dirt and OpticsPlanet ship stuff about every other Thursday. It arrives in a couple weeks or I get an email in 3-4 days telling me "Sorry it's out of stock".

Even when something is slightly more expensive at Amazon (rarely) I'll usually pay it for the speed of getting it here. And returns are simple, they SEND UPS to my door with a label. All I have to do is fill out some online form stuff and leave the box out front.

Amazon has spoiled me from shopping most anywhere else. For shoes, it's Zappos.

+1^^^ Although I occasionally stumble onto a deal there. Like Cabela's better than Bass Pro for whatever that's worth.

Amazon is amazing.I know one woman that even orders diapers and formula from them. It's cheaper and more efficient than going to King Soopers :-0

Some retailers will price match Amazon as long as it is being sold and shipped by Amazon. Lowes, BestBuy, Target and HHGregg have price matched for me. The manager had to approve at Lowes, but the others didn't blink an eye at considerable price reductions.

Its a lot easier and more efficient to just check on your smartphone while in the store rather than driving back and forth to home to get online.
